Pitts recently received the opportunity to travel to Fort Gordon to visit various soldiers of the 63rd ESB and their families.
Pitts met with Carlos Morales' wife. Carlos Morales is the Commander of the 63rd ESB. Morales is still oversees along with Josh Kesler, the featured soldier on the soldier board in Daniel Hall. Pitts visited both families to get their feelings of excitement for his return.
Pitts also met with Mandy Flanders, a Piedmont student who will be graduating in December. Flounders is Piedmont's patriot for the Fort Gordon area and started the soldier pinpal program for the soldiers there.
The final meeting that Pitts had was with one of the first soldiers that Patriots of Piedmont supported, Ken Jackson.
Jackson's unit, which was stationed in Afghanistan, received the ball caps that were collected by Patriots last year.
This was the first meeting between Pitts and Jackson. Pitts says that Jackson has an open invitation to Piedmont anytime and that the Patriots could not have supported a more deserving group of men and women.
The Patriots of Piedmont are gearing up for another eventful year with many projects in the works. These include filling Christmas stockings for soldiers. Pitts says that all of the stockings are being made and 100 will be sent to soldiers in Iraq from Piedmont while another 200 will be sent out to other organizations.
Along with the stocking project for Christmas, Patriots will hold a bake sale in November and being selling T-shirts again this year.
Pitts also shared news of the Patriots adopting another group of females from Washington State that they will begin sending items to soon.
