After former volleyball coach Katie O'Brien left Piedmont in the spring, the Athletic Department found Bill Shook to fill the void.
Shook brings an impressive resume to Piedmont. From 1994-2003, he coached volleyball at Mars Hill College. He's also served as the coach of the Biltmore Volleyball Club near Asheville, N.C.
Shook was also a setter for the U.S. Olympics and coached the 1992 and 1995 U.S. Women's Teams Pre-Olympic Squads and worked in other capacities with the team for 15 years. He was the Assistant Director of Statistics for volleyball on the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games in 2006.
Shook coached four high school state championships and worked at the World Volleyball Training Center in N.Y., coaching in Norway, Japan and China.
Despite his professional success, he isn't snobby about coaching at a small college.
"I am very excited to join the professional and hospitable staff at Piedmont," says Shook.
"I look to continue the success and winning tradition of this strong athletic department and I will look to push the student athletes both on the court and in the classroom."
