The Theatre Department looks forward to the upcoming year. With no major changes with the staff, the returning directors and leaders look forward to another great year. The department is planning on four shows with two on the main stage and two in the Blackbox.
The first show that you can look forward to seeing is You Can't Take It With You by Moss Hart and George Kaufman. Bill Gabelhausen, professor of theater, will direct this family friendly comedy. The show will be held October 2 to 5 on the main stage. Auditions will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Come prepared with a one minute contemporary comic monologue.
The second show on the agenda will be directed by Dr. Rick Rose, theatre department chair, in the Blackbox. It is called The Magic is Me written by David Novak with the music by George Kovack and Al Genduso. The show is a children's musical that is suitable for all ages. It is scheduled to be shown November 20 to 23.
Guest Director Lisa Cesnik will come in to direct As You Like it the third show of the season. This is a classic Shakespeare play that will be produced on the main stage. Look forward to February 19 to 22 when you can go see this masterpiece.
The last performance is going to be a very touching one. Gabelhausen will direct Tom Griffen's famous The Boy's Next Door. It will be performed in the Blackbox April 16 to 18. The Boy's Next Door is a very thought provoking show for adults.
With so many big shows the theatre department is excited about the upcoming year. They welcome everyone to come see all of their shows, as well ascoming to audition for the shows.
