The Lady Lions softball team had a quality weekend, winning five out of six games at the Millsaps College Invitational in Jackson, Mississippi.
On the first day of the invitational, the Lady Lions picked up a pair of victories over Trinity University, 11-10, and fellow SCAC member and south region foe Rhodes College, 6-2.
The victory over Rhodes gave head coach Terry Martin his 200th career win.
Following the invitational, Martin now has a 203-165-1 career mark.
On the second day, Piedmont picked up where it left off with another victory over Rhodes College, winning 5-3.
However, the Lady Lions then lost 12-3 to the University of Texas-Dallas in a narrow 4-3 win, and capped off the invitational with a 10-0 shutout of Hendrix College.
The two wins on the final day puts Piedmont at 10-4 overall.
In the avenging win over the University of Texas-Dallas, junior Lindsay Drevlow picked up her fourth win of the season.
The 10-0 win over Hendrix College gave freshman B.J. Cofer her sixth win of the season in seven decisions, pitching a two-hit shutout.
The Lady Lions scored eight unanswered runs in the third inning of the win over Hendrix. Every starter recorded a hit.
The women have yet to play a conference opponent in the Great South Athletic Conference.
The Lady Lions lace up their cleats again March 20 when they travel to NCAA Division-II opponent North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina.
The doubleheader will be the ninth and tenth games of the current 12-game road trip for the Lady Lions.
