Bobby Knight shocked the sports world after his sudden departure from Texas Tech, after 42 years coaching at the collegiate level. The legendary coach, who coached at Army and Indiana before Tech, is second to none with 902 career wins, including three NCAA Championships. Knight's son Pat Knight will be his successor…The Lakers made a huge move in acquiring Pau Gasol from Memphis for Kwame Brown. Gasol will keep Kobe Bryant happy and provides much-needed help inside on a banged-up front line…With just a week remaining until the Daytona 500 on Feb. 17, NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. broke out of his slump with a win in the Bud Shootout in his new number 88 Hendrick Motorsports car. The win at Daytona was his first in a Nextel Cup event since May 2006...In a possible panic move, Phoenix traded 29-year-old Shawn Marion to the Heat for Shaquille O'Neal. The Diesel, whose numbers have declined rapidly over the past four years, vows to make the Suns shine again…Atlanta's new WNBA team, the Dream, chose 13 players in its expansion draft for next season. The team also made three trades to fill out the roster.
