Lions off to perfect 3-0 start
Piedmont sweeps two-game set with Guilford College

Zero is the lucky number for the Lions, who shut out visiting Guilford College 9-0 on Feb. 10, moving Piedmont to 3-0 on the season.
Piedmont opened its season with an 8-7 win at home over Randolph-Macon College, and swept a weekend series against Guilford.
The Lions used late-inning heroics from senior Evan Nissley to win 9-8 on Feb. 9 in a game that ended in the tenth on Nissley's walk-off single.
Junior Andy Graf pitched six innings of shutout ball on Feb. 10, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out four.
Sophomore Josh McEachin and freshman Dusty Black secured the win with three combined shutout innings of relief.
The 3-0 start for the Lions is their best start in the NCAA Division-III era.
The Lions used seven hits and six stolen bases in the 9-0 victory.
Junior Jared Moon drew two walks, scored twice and stole three bases, while senior Andy House paced the Lions with two hits and an RBI.
Sophomore Zac Stein drove in two runs and junior transfer Andrew Migetz had a double and three runs scored.
Piedmont pounded out 18 runs on 17 hits, as well as stealing 14 bases in the two-game sweep against Guilford.
The Lions travel to Oglethorpe University on Feb. 13 in an attempt to remain perfect.
