Piedmont welcomes Jenan Williams as the new executive chef in Nielsen Dining Hall.
Williams comes to Piedmont from Miami Nova Southeastern University in Miami, Fla. Williams managed seven businesses at Nova's $17 million food court. Prior to working at Nova, she also served as a support team member for Compass Group, father company of Chartwells, at Ringling University of Design and McNeese University in Louisiana.
New to the area, Williams is excited about the new experience of being outside her norm.
She says, "It's a lot different. I've seen my first snow ever in the last two weeks. I also love the family feel that Piedmont offers, as well as the opportunity for more interaction with the student's to see what kind of foods they want."
Coming from a multi-cultural family, Williams has adapted to all kinds of foods.
"She has a good Southern palate as well as a good understanding of ethnic foods. That's exactly what makes her a good fit for Piedmont," says Jamie Ballew, director of dining services at Piedmont.
Williams will replace Erin Rushton who transferred to UNC-Charlotte at the beginning of January. There was no comment as to why Rushton was transferred.
