Atonement

By Matthew Jackson

Love, tragedy and beautiful cinematography. What more could a person ask of a movie? Atonement is one of the best movies I have seen in years.

The movie opens in the mid-1930s and tells the story of what can happen when jealousy and false accusations join hands to form tragedy.

The plot continues to unfold many years during World War II and its surrounding events.

I won't say too much about the plot itself because I believe in order to fully enjoy this movie, you should know as little as possible about it before seeing it.

This movie is an eloquent portal of love that shouldn't have been cut short. It also makes you think about the consequences of your words and actions.

The cast is spectacular, including Keira Knightly (Pirates of the Carribean) and James McAvoy (Becoming Jane, Last King of Scotland). I would highly recommend this movie to any fan of tragedy or romance, although it is heavier on the tragedy end.

If you aren't a fan of tragedy, I would still recommend this movie based on its amazing story and cinematography.

P.S. I love you

By Daniela Guevara

Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler star in P.S. I Love You as Manhattan couple Holly and Gerry Kennedy. After we see Butler's funny strip tease, we find out Gerry is dead after a fight with cancer.

Holly mourns the death of her husband and seems to not be able to move on with her life. She starts to receive letters from Gerry with steps to help her move on. Holly begins a journey of surprises Gerry had prepared for her before his death, including a trip to Ireland. Throughout her adventure, Holly believes she has fallen in love with Daniel, Harry Connick Jr., but things take a complete turn when Gerry's last letter arrives.

P.S. I Love You is based on the novel by Cecelia Ahern. Unfortunately, the movie is an insult to Ahern's novel.

They added scenes that the book didn't have and changed the audience's feelings about the characters, such as Holly hooking up with Gerry's friend.
