Alpha Psi Omega, APO, is the theater honor society that is recognized all across the country. Piedmont's chapter meets once a month to discuss different events, as well as theater productions.

The group works on various projects throughout the semester. One of these was helping with Kappa Pi's Halloween Ball last semester. This society is also responsible for managing the box office during each performance and running the concession stand. Each of the 12 members must help out in all productions by having a part on stage, working as a stagehand, or working the concession stand and box office.

APO membership is controlled by a point system. Students gain different amounts of points depending on the type of task an individual completes. The society sets a number of points required for entry and current members approve new members. New members are inducted every spring at the annual Thespis awards.

Piedmont's APO chapter is hosting the annual Thespis awards this semester. APO members vote on various student awards. Theater majors, minors and any individual who is part of any production is eligible for an award.

In addition to their normal activities and assisting with the Halloween Ball, APO plans to sponsor a Cabaret in the fall.

If anyone is interested in learning more about APO, the theater department or just wants to help out, contact APO president Heather Thomas or vice president Patrick Hawkins in the Swanson Center.
