This season, the basketball team is hoping to instill a new tradition.
Men's Basketball Assistant Coach Ben Hooker has been working hard to create a student cheering section for the games.
The section, called the Lion's Den, is being started to create an atmosphere of student support for the Lions. "My hope is to get both the a
thletes and the students excited about the games," says Hooker.
The first night of this new tradition was the Lady Lion's January 3 game against Spelman College.
The Lion's Den is supposed to be an exclusive section for students wearing the official t-shirts being sold at the home games.
Though no student will be turned away for not wearing a shirt it is encouraged that students interested in being a part of the Lion's Den purchase one of the shirts for $3.
The shirts are still being sold at home games, and can be purchased from the concession stand.
Whether or not you wear the shirt, it is the support that is the most important thing.
Hooker's goal is to create excitement for the team and hopes this tradition can become an important part of campus life at Piedmont.
"Hopefully this will grow into a great tradition," says Hooker, " and the support will turn over for other sports and campus activities."
