Women's Basketball has an overall successful winter break and came back strong to defeat GSAC rivals Maryville College

am had a successful winter break, boosting their overall record to 7-4 overall, with a 3-0 GSAC record.
Their third GSAC win came last Sunday against the Lady Scots of Maryville College.
The Lady Lions had a close victory with a final score of 66-64.
On January 3, the women matched up against the Spelman Lady Jaguars. The Lady Lions came out on top with a final score of 73-61.
With eight minutes to go in the game, the score was 48-43.
The women fought hard to finalize their victory and sealed it after their 25-18 run in the last minutes of the game.
Junior Sarah Lane scored a team-high 16 points, which included a pair of three-pointers. Lane was also 4-4 in free throws.
Junior Yetta Bailey scored 14 points and had 12 rebounds, and Junior Sheena Trimiar tallied a game-high of three steals.
The only Lady Lions' loss over the break was against Oglethorpe University on December 8.
The Oglethorpe defense shut down the Piedmont offense, forcing 27 turnovers during the game.
Junior Nikki Sosebee led the team with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Trimiar, Bailey, and sophomore Beth Adcock each scored 15 points, while junior Stephanie Rainwater added eight points.
Before their loss, the women added three wins to their record by defeating Methodist University, Greensboro College, and Wesleyan College.
The game against Methodist's Lady Monarchs resulted in a 75-66 victory.
Sosebee led in score with a total of 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Adcock contributed 16 points, including a pair of three-pointers.
Rainwater and Trimiar both scored 11, and Trimiar tallied a season-best eight steals.
Against Greensboro, the Lady Lions walked away with a 69-51 win over the Pride.
Sophomore Kayla Duncan was 8-11 from the field, and led the four players who scored in double-figures.
Along with Duncan was Adcock scoring 13, Sosebee scoring 11, and Bailey adding 10.
The women's first GSAC win of the season came on November 29 against Wesleyan.
The Lady Lions jumped to a quick lead, and by halftime the score was 45-19.
Junior Danielle Dutcher scored a game-high of 17 point. Overall, the break was good for the Lady Lions.
Their next game is against GSAC opponent Huntingdon College in Alabama on January 10.
