What is love? Hello! Is anyone there? Who can help me understand love? Can someone come to my rescue?
This has been the cry of my heart for years now and no one has come forward to tell me what love is. Actually, I have asked people's opinions in search of an answer but there have been none. To be honest, I did not know what I was searching for until one day I sat down to reflect on what exactly other people and I were seeking in life. A million things that were priorities and important issues at the time came to my mind. Some included lifetime goals and great achievements for the future. As I narrowed the list down bit-by-bit, something deep inside me was crying out, some emptiness that could satisfy be satisfied. There was great heaviness in my heart that I could not lift. This was not just a day of reflection, but years of heaviness and emptiness. As years went by, I always resorted to seeking God for comfort and answers. In actual fact, I was not ready for answers; instead, I wanted the pain to go away.
One day, while I was praying, I told God how much I love him and immediately I could not believe what went through my mind as I prayed. I started seeing my own definition of love and was reminded of a word in the Bible; "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails" (1 Corinthians 13:4 - 8a). I realized that I did not really have all the qualities of love and all that I have been seeking for His Perfect Love. I asked God that day to teach me all about love and to give me a fresh start.
Take a close look around you. What do you see? Many people are looking for something. Right? What I am talking about? Love is the main ingredient for a life worth living. This is the perfect love of God, which is 100%. No one can give you this 100% love, if they don't understand wholly what love is. With the Help of God's word, I have gained Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding to Love.
Dear friends, find that perfect love and you will start loving people unconditionally. A perfect example was demonstrated by God himself: He gave his only begotten son Jesus Christ so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have an everlasting life. You and I desire to live a meaningful, joyful and productive life. This life will be fulfilled with the understanding and experience of 100% love. My life now has a meaning because LOVE DRIVES ME.
