High school students "face" arts event in record numbers

February has brought winter winds and rains with it, but last Thursday and Friday, it also brought something else; a record number of high school seniors and juniors. Dribbling to help the homeless

A student versus faculty and staff basketball game will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the Piedmont College Gym on the Athens campus. This event is being held to raise funds for local homeless children. Jasmin Severino and Nallie Xiong, two Piedmont College students on the Athens campus, are sponsoring the event.

iPad: Bigger and better

Look out iPhone, there's something bigger and better coming, and it's called the iPad. With a design similar to the iPhone, the iPad is a 9.7 inch tablet-style gadget weighing 1.5 pounds and a half-inch thick. It will be one of Apple's technologies that will be on the market for a much cheaper price than expected.

Students show talent

By LOUIS CASSAMAJOR Staff Writer Piedmont College students Sean Maguire and Justin Doro came together and organized a talent show. Prior to the actual organization of the event, Doro and Maguire had to get approval from Resident Director Devin Pass and Resident Life Coordinator Mark Maynard.

Piedmont undergraduate students may have less grant money coming their way next semester. According to a Jan. 19 press release, Governor Sonny Purdue has proposed eliminating five educational state grants for 2010-11 including the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant.

A third political party?
Nearly 150 years have passed since the U.S. government has been substantially represented by a political party other than the Republicans or Democrats. That, it seems, could be about to change. The "Tea Party," as the movement is calling itself, is quickly transforming from political protest movement to a national political party with a distinct platform.

BATTER UP!

BASEBALL SEASON OPENER AT PIEDMONT COLLEGE
The Piedmont College baseball team was defeated in its first game of the season by visitor Guilford College yesterday in a game that was rescheduled due to inclement weather. The score was 5-2. Both teams agreed to move the first series of the season back after northeast Georgia was threatened by a winter mix of rain and sleet.
